Philosophy of Education
My role, as an instructor or facilitator, is to stimulate the learner's natural curiosity, remove barriers to learning, foster a sense of security and facilitate the flow of learning in a direction that makes sense. It's also my job to acknowledge that adults have different learning styles and that this specific group of learners is typically internally motivated. In addition, I need to be sensitive to the fact that adults bring a wide range of experiences to class and many have different expectations on what they feel is relevant to learn. As a result, I need to incorporate their expectations into the subject matter connecting the topic in such a way that it makes sense to them.
All my learners will experience courtesy, respect and active listening while participating in my class.
* My teaching style will be tailored to the needs of my students and I"ll demonstrate patience for differences in learning styles, culture and life experiences.
* I will create an inclusive classroom environment built on safety, common ground and respect.
* My classroom will focus on the subject matter at hand and the learner.
* My job is to facilitate the synthesis of the topic and not impose my beliefs on my students.
* I will convey my expectations to my learners through a learning contract that they will participate in creating. It will be a collaborative effort in which both parties agree on the end results.

Philosophy of Classroom Management
I will establish a positive learning environment by modeling enthusiasm and interest in the subject while remaining well organized. Engaging lesson plans, relevant examples and practical connections will be illustrated frequently so that my adult learners can apply their new knowledge in meaningful ways. I will help my students stay motivated by including their own experiences in topics of discussion while illustrating the value each individual brings to class.
